The philosophy at Clarke Cable is to offer a turnkey one stop supply to meet customers' needs. Our products are manufactured in the UK and we offer to customers:

• The widest range of approved power cord sets from a single source UK manufacturer. Cable assemblies with an enormous combination of types of connectors, plugs, adapters, sockets and all to meet the customers needs.
• We are able to offer a wide range of types of cable that we can work with. Rubber cable is one of our specialities.
• We have totally flexible manufacturing capabilities which allow us to produce small or large batches of a virtually unlimited range.
• As part of our expansion and investment programme, a new warehouse was built in 2003 which allows for increased stock holding.
• Quality of manufacture. One of the first European companies to achieve ISO9000, Clarke Cable has approvals from many test bodies around the world and is proud of the quality products we sell. You can be confident when buying from Clarkes of the quality of the product.

Clarke Cable began business over thirty years ago, initially manufacturing small cable assemblies (cord sets) using a range of electrical plugs and terminals. Incorporated in 1972 the company has grown both in size and range of products to the point where today Clarke Cable offers an extremely wide and varied range of products to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) around the world. The company is based on a large industrial site in Congleton, Cheshire, close to the major manufacturing centres in the north of England.

Quality is a very important aspect of the company's philosophy and Clarke Cable was one of the earliest companies in the UK to achieve BS5750 (ISO9002) accreditation. This was back in 1986. In order to offer as full a range of products as possible, Clarkes have gained approvals from many of the top approvals boards around the world. These include BSI, UL / CSA, QAS, Kema, VDE, Semko, Demko and numerous other European bodies.

Over the last few years the level of new product introductions has moved at an extremely fast pace with an average of three new products each year being launched. Massive investment in tooling and equipment has enabled Clarkes to be able to offer a range of products at competitive prices.

Our business is built on offering top quality products, a very wide range, responding quickly with deliveries to meet the customer's requirements at competitive prices. We are experienced in handling a wide variety of cables, with large quantities of rubber cable being used. Long cable lengths are part of our regular production and we have the equipment to enable us to handle these efficiently.

With a special products section we are able to deal with items that need hand assembly, such as 16 amp industrial plugs, sockets and connectors or one to four gang trailing sockets. We also produce spiroflex (curly) cable so we can provide this to your exact specification with or without plugs. Other special jobs include fitting cable assemblies to water pumps, heater pods for pets and a product rework facility plus a host of other exotic applications.

Clarkes was originally known for specialising in supplies of cable assemblies for small domestic appliances. Over the last few years the customer base has expanded to include power tool, electric fire, computers, vacuum cleaner, commercial catering, sheep shearing and a host of other manufacturers. A recent introduction includes a Y connector for computers where a patent has been applied for. Our unique UK non rewireable plug offers a very good quality 13 amp plug at a very competitive price.

In 1997 Clarke Cable was acquired by Earlex Ltd and is now a division of that company. Further product development is already underway for future product launches.
