Clarke Cable is thrilled to share some exciting news. We’ve been awarded a Bronze Medal by EcoVadis, one of the world’s most trusted and widely used sustainability rating platforms.
For those unfamiliar with EcoVadis, the platform independently assesses the sustainability performance of companies across the globe, with over 100,000 businesses evaluated to date, using internationally recognised standards including ISO 26000, the UN Global Compact, and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). Companies are rigorously scored across four key themes: Environment, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. Every submission is reviewed by trained analysts and backed by evidence.
Earning a Bronze Medal means Clarke Cable ranks in the top 35% of all companies assessed worldwide over the past 12 months, placing us ahead of the majority of businesses that have gone through this process. To be recognised at this level is something the whole team can feel genuinely proud of.
“This award means a great deal to us,” said Julian Baseley, Chairman & CEO at Clarke Cable. “Sustainability isn’t just a tick box exercise, it’s something we genuinely care about. It forms an important part of our longer-term continuous improvement goals. Working with benchmarking experts like EcoVadis really helps us to see where we can improve and adopt the best practices. What makes this recognition particularly meaningful is that the assessment doesn’t just look at what we think about sustainability, it recognises what we actually do. It factors in our policies, the actions we take, and the results we can demonstrate. The insight and validation of knowing that an independent body has reviewed how we operate and recognised us for it is really encouraging. We’re not finished, there’s always more to do, but it’s a fantastic start!”
In a global market where a significant proportion of cable is manufactured overseas, often shipped thousands of miles from facilities in China, the environmental cost of that supply chain is a conversation the industry really needs to have. Freight shipping across continents generates substantial carbon emissions that rarely appear on a product’s sustainability credentials, yet they are very much part of its true environmental footprint. As a UK-based manufacturer and distributor, Clarke Cable offers customers a genuinely lower-carbon alternative, with dramatically reduced delivery miles, greater supply chain transparency, and the assurance that the products they’re buying have been produced under robust ethical and environmental standards. In a world where sustainable procurement is increasingly a business priority, where you buy from matters just as much as what you buy.
For our customers, partners, and suppliers, this EcoVadis Bronze Medal is a clear and independently verified signal of Clarke Cable’s commitment to doing business responsibly, and of our determination to keep raising the bar.
