The Challenge:
On receiving orders greater than their capacity CDK were faced with the dilemma of finding a Sub Contractor with both cable processing and box assembly capabilities. In addition the finished units had to be packed for export shipment to Austria. The material handling and space required to manage various raw materials were also a major consideration.
The Process:
Firstly the cable element was undertaken using Clarke’s extensive cable cutting and terminating equipment to produce the wiring looms required. Sample units were assembled with the support of the client, to determine the most cost effective routings. The inspection and test procedures were reduced due to the upstream quality of the wiring processing techniques. Once completed the units were palletised and shrink-wrapped for export shipping to Austria.
Benefits to the Customer:
Close proximity facilitated a strong bond between both companies.Reduced inspection & test resulted in lower direct cost.
Goods fully palletised significantly reduced shipping costs.
Conclusion:
A fusion of skills & training from both parties delivered a significant result and increased the throughput by 33%.
